We started earlier today, and headed out to get Julia coffee.
On the way we came across a place called BunBun, they weren’t actually open, even they showed every sign of being open. So we’ll try again tomorrow.
Then we headed back to the hotel, where a girl on her bike yelled at me to get out of the street, “this isn’t Disneyland!”
Well, I know that. Disneyland isn’t this dirty.
The streets were still flooded with trash after yesterday’s festivities.
Back at the hotel my parents were already in the lobby, so we waited for the Uber.
He was right on time, and we ended up making excellent time.
We were at Voorlinden about 10:45 and started off with having a bite.
Julia and I shared a tuna sandwich and a cheese sandwich. My mom also got the tuna, and my dad had two of these chocolate/coffee tarts.
Once in the museum we got my dad a wheelchair, and headed through.
It’s a great collection of works. We had a nice time seeing new things, and revisiting works from our first time.
2025
So glad we got to see this work, Real Time Grandfather Clock - The Son, Maarten Baas.
Then we got an Uber to Mauritshuis.
The museum has Girl With A Pearl Earring, The Goldfinch, and The Anatomy Lesson Of Dr Nicolaes Tulp.
People have always shown their wealth with their birds.
Mother And Child
It’s a nice building. It seems like they’re updating the front. Curious what that will become.
After we went to Bodega De Posthoorn for drinks. I also got a slice of apple pie. Which is very big here, but not the traditional American apple pie. It’s good.
Over an hour there we got another Uber to James Turrell’s Celestial Vault.
Inspired by the optical illusion of the sky looking domed when you lay on your back.
It’s a pretty space, that’s certainly enjoyed by more than just the art crowd.
Guys just hanging out and drinking in the crater.
We also checked out the connecting work, Panorama In The Dunes, but this is basically just an observation point, and not that special.
My parents waited at a restaurant across the street from the work.
We went to them to catch our return Uber.
This dropped us off at the same wrong spot as yesterday. So we decided my mom’s Uber just is wrong. Not sure why.
Julia and I then relaxed in the room of the hotel for a few, and then met my parents to go to d’Vijff Vlieghen [The 5 Flies].
The space was very pretty, and felt of the time of the tulips.
Four duck breasts later we parted with my parents and Julia and I headed to Door 74.
This was a speakeasy we were lucky to find. No signs anywhere.
They thankfully had two people no show, so they took us.
We’ve gotten so lucky this trip.
Very fun cocktail menu. Inspired by lost or storied treasures around the world.
Awful bar stools though. My legs are going numb typing this.
Then we passed Pathé, the famous movie theater. I’d love to go, but I don’t want to not understand anything since they’d be in Dutch.
We then arrived at The Flying Dutchman. Another spot on her list.
It’s connected to Belly Of The Beast.
Which was our last stop.
A drink at both, and then we headed back to the hotel.
Until Tomorrow.
