Moonlight

February 19 2017.

This evening after work Evan and I watched Moonlight.

I went into the movie thinking it wasn't going to be that great.

I mean I know it's Oscar nominated, but still, I had a feeling.

The movie is in three phases, and while I don't feel like it does an exceptional job telling a whole story, I did think a few of the scenes were well done.

There's one very tasteful scene where the boy asks what a faggot is, and his new adult friend explains that it's a hurtful word to describe a gay person.  But the boys innocence, and the man's reaction and delivery are just perfect.

There was one line that the adult friend says, "at some point you gotta decide for yourself who you wanna be, can't let nobody make that decision for you."

While it doesn't really seem to end that way, I still thought it was a well worded quote.

The movie as a whole was good, I don't believe that it's best picture worthy, but I didn't think it didn't deserve the nomination.

I just still think Lion should win.  I still have to see Fences, but then I'm done.

I have two weeks to see it I think, or it's actually next weekend.  That makes sense actually.

Until Tomorrow.
