I’m in a room with air conditioning, and not in need of heat.
After the last two nights, I’m very appreciative of a warm bed.
When I woke up this morning, I hurried to get ready.
Hayley made breakfast, and then after we ate we gathered our things to go.
We were in the car for a few, and then we pulled over to prep for the baby to take a nap.
I purchased some Cheetos shaped like soccer balls, and some sort of sour candy.
They were not sour, and the Cheetos were pretty gross.
We made it a little further and then stopped again.
The highway we took was private, so all of the stations were very nice.
At this stop I tried ovos moles, a fake egg, made of eggs. And pastel de águeda, which is made of almonds, eggs, and butter.
The ovos was pretty bland, but the pastel had a great crust, but was overall dull.
But I’d try another, can trust gas station food, no matter how nice.
We arrived in Porto close to when I had told Jay.
He was at the hotel a little earlier than we were ready, but once we met him, we grabbed the dog and headed on a walk.
We did a nice walk to the water and back, and then dropped off the dog to do almost the same walk, but further.
On the walk I did grab a pavlova, flavored natas do ceu, which is like egg cream.
I’ll have it for breakfast.
Back at the water we walked up Escadas do Codeçal, so we could walk the upper level of the Ponte Luís I.
Once across, in Vila Nova de Gaia, we looped down to the lower level of the bridge to take in a different view.
Then it was 7, so the restaurants were finally open. The one I’d been recommended had us wait about 40 minutes.
We survived, but we were hungry.
Finally we sat down at Holy Sandwich Shop. Which isn’t really a sandwich spot, it’s really a hamburger place, but we all enjoyed it.
We shared a heavily dressed chicken Caesar salad, which was good.
Then I had a cheeseburger, that had some fancy mayonnaise on it that I liked, and fries.
After dinner we walked back to the hotel.
Jay headed home, and we got ready for bed.
I was going to shower, but decided I’d rather shower tomorrow morning after the pool.
Only a few things on the list tomorrow, so we’ll see what we do.
Until Tomorrow.
